Supervised community accommodation program evaluation
Supervised community accommodation (SCA) was introduced in late 2017 to ensure that young people who have been granted bail by a court, and who do not have a safe home to go to, are supervised and supported to reconnect with family and other services.
Evaluation
The department commissioned independent evaluations of the SCA program. These were published in December 2019 and December 2020:
- Griffith University (2019) (PDF, 3MB)
- Ernst and Young (2019) (PDF, 1.5MB)
- Ernst and Young (2020) (PDF, 672KB).
The evaluations showed that while the SCA model provided safe, secure and stable accommodation with significant wrap-around services, it was more expensive compared to other programs.
On 15 December 2020, the Queensland Government announced the SCA program would conclude at the end of January 2021.
